A different PHP version for one website or subdomain

Updated on 4 November 20261 min read

Does one site need a different PHP version than the rest of your plan? Set it per domain.

Here's how

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin: open your plan in your client area and click Open DirectAdmin. You're signed in right away.
  2. Open Select PHP version (under Extra Features), or type "Select PHP" in the search field.
  3. Click Per Domain Settings at the top and choose the domain or subdomain.
  4. Turn on Isolation and choose the PHP version for that domain.
  5. Click Save.

Per Domain Settings doesn't work for your situation? Then put a .htaccess file in that site's folder with: <FilesMatch "\.php$"> SetHandler application/x-lsphp82 </FilesMatch> (82 = PHP 8.2; 83 = PHP 8.3).
