Taking my DNS along when transferring a domain: how does it work?

Table Of Contents

When transferring a domain name, we ask what should happen to your DNS records. That way nothing drops out, not even for a moment.

Here's how #

  1. Bring everything to us (default): before the transfer we record all your records (website, mail, Google, Microsoft, …) and put them in our DNS. After the transfer your domain name points to our name servers and everything keeps working.
  2. Keep your current DNS: your domain name moves to us, but your DNS stays with your current DNS provider.
  3. With web hosting: then everything comes to us. Your website and mail move to your new plan; external services such as Google or Microsoft simply come along.

After the transfer you manage your DNS in DNS management (or in DigiPanel with web hosting).
