You have just created an email address through the DirectAdmin control panel and would like to add it to your favorite email program/app. Use the following settings. We recommend that you choose IMAP when asked the question IMAP or POP. With IMAP, mails are synchronized with the server. This keeps all your mails synchronized on all your devices.

Email Gates #
IMAP #
The Internet Message Access Protocol synchronizes all email with the mail server. Every device your mailbox is set up on sees the same thing.
- Port 143: The default port with no encrypted connection. It is not recommended to use this port.
- Port 993: This port is suitable for an encrypted IMAP connection. This is secure and also recommended to use. Just make sure SSL is fully and properly enabled for your domain name. More info
POP / POP3 #
The Post Office Protocol retrieves all email from the mail server. This is not recommended when setting up your mail on multiple devices.
- Port 110: This is the default port for a POP connection. This connection is not encrypted and thus can also be considered insecure.
- Port 995: This is the port for an encrypted POP connection. This is a secure connection, so we recommend using it. Just make sure SSL is fully and properly enabled for your domain name. More info
SMTP #
The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is intended for sending e-mail.
- Port 25: This refers to the default port for SMTP, this port is unsecured and therefore not encrypted.
- Port 465: This port is suitable for a secure SSL connection. Make sure SSL is fully and properly enabled for your domain name. More info
- Port 587: This port is suitable for secure TLS connection, other type of encryption. Make sure SSL is fully and correctly enabled for your domain name. More info
Comments #
- In advanced, you can often set the IMAP path or root folder. You don't need to fill in this field.
- Some programs may not be compatible with outgoing port 465 over SSL. Instead, consider using the following settings: Outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomainname, Port: 587, Security: StartTLS
- If you don't use Outlook, consider enabling Password Authentication (SPA).
Outlook #
Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult for many customers to connect to our services via Outlook. This is because Microsoft wants all mails to be checked by Microsoft's servers as well. If you have problems we recommend using another program such as EM Client.
Password Forgotten #
Are you experiencing problems adding your account? It could be that the password you enter is not correct. You can verify this by logging into the webmail here. If it fails there too, consider setting a new password. Here is a guide on how to do that.
